about the body work

Tuina is a manual therapy which makes use of specific motions such as “kneading” “rolling,” and “pushing,” much like other massage styles, and includes some gentle stretching, and joint mobilization.

Shiatsu is a type of bodywork with roots in Japan. This gentle therapy makes use of the east asian understanding of functionally connected pathways in the body, working to calm the sympathetic, or “fight or flight” nervous system.

Cupping was used historically across many cultures throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. It creates negative pressure with heated glass, or silicon cups, allowing sore muscles as well as the web-like fascia that surrounds them to decompress. The dermis is lifted, circulation increases, and lactic acid (which builds up in muscles to cause soreness) can be reduced.

Acupressure head massage uses simple shiatsu techniques to ease tension in the head, common among those with chronic headaches, neck pain, and TM
