VICKY CANHAM (she, her) is a Registered Acupuncturist in practice since 2011. She is a member of The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario, Acupuncture + TCM Association of Nova Scotia and is an overseas member of the British Acupuncture Council. Vicky has a BSc (Hons) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) from The University of Salford, Manchester - under the instruction of Dr Mei Xing and Dr Lei Zhao.

Vicky is originally from Manchester, UK and has been lived in Canada for 15 years. She originally studied Social Policy and later on was inspired by her own health journey to study Acupuncture. She has been a Registered Acupuncturist since 2011.

After the birth of her daughter she discovered she had PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and this was likely to be the reason she wasn't able to conceive a second time. Having used Chinese Medicine in her teen years for acne, Vicky was open to the idea of trying acupuncture to help balance her hormones. She responded very well to the treatments and was inspired to return to university to study acupuncture in 2008.

Although she has developed a specific interest in supporting patients with mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression, Vicky operates a general practice and enjoys seeing patients with a variety of different health concerns. She is committed to offering acupuncture in a warm, welcoming space where all patients feel safe and at ease.

ALICIA FORDHAM (she, her) is a Registered Acupuncturist and member of the Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia as well the CTCMPAO in Ontario. After completing her Diploma of Acupuncture at Eight Branches Academy of Eastern Medicine, the pan-Canadian exams, and a clinical internship in Toronto, Alicia has worked in community acupuncture, and her own private practice before opening sunmoon room, a multidisciplinary treatment space in the North End of Kjipuktuk/Halifax.

With a general practice, Alicia treats a wide range of conditions including headaches, insomnia, chronic pain, and menstrual disorders. Her treatments often include complementary bodywork modalities such as shiatsu, tuina, and moxibustion. The restorative and regulating effects of acupuncture inspire her daily, and she is grateful for the opportunity to practice this medicine.

More about Alicia ~

As a teen I was treated a handful of times by a wise and talented acupuncturist who left me with the sense that our bodies are not only connected to, but a fully integrated part of our environments. I went on to work in a variety of fields, and earned a BA in Social Anthropology, but the environment of healing I encountered in those treatments had really caught my attention.

Later, living in New York City and working for a busy events company, I met a Traditional East Asian Medicine Practitioner who helped me through some stubborn health concerns, sparking a lot more questions and inspiring me to return to school. I would soon find that studying and practicing acupuncture connected the dots of many of my earlier interests, and is endlessly expansive, challenging, and rewarding.
